Here is an easy one,

Can I use an AGP Video Card on Motherboard with AGP 4X slot?

thanks,

That would depend if the slots on the AGP channel matched the notches on the AGP card. Also, if it is an AGP PRO card and the channel isn't...

Regards.

If the motherboard lists the slot as AGP 4x, then you can use any video card up to AGP 4x speed and not worry about the notching.

AGP 4x is a term applied to slots that will support AGP 1x, 2x, and 4x cards.

In contrast, sometimes you will find a motherboard with the slot listed like AGP 1.5v. Such a motherboard then will only support 1.5v cards, which happens to be AGP 2x cards. I think AGP 1x cards are 3.3v, but don't quote me on that. And I certainly don't know the voltage on AGP 4x cards off hand.

dakota81 you are confusing AGP 4x with AGP Universal.

For example a Soltek SL-85MR3 is a 4x AGP board ~ it only supports 1.5v so it does not support the 1x 2x specification ~ which are keyed at 3.3v

lol, the notches stop you putting the wrong card into your mobo.

Regards.
