I recently had a hub (Lattishub 2814, advanced agent 5.3.1) fail to load (flash error) so I found and tried downloading a new image to it. (5.3.3) It seemed really slow, so I backrev'd it to 5.3.1

The problem I have now is that a formerly 'advanced' agent now shows as 'standard'. Is this a problem with the .img file?

Any idea where I'd get a valid image? I have 9 other similar hubs, still OK-- is there any way to upload an image from them?

Thanks,
Si.

I think these are the advanced images

ftp://ftp-support.baynetworks.com/pub/swcode/2000/ethernet/281sa/
while these are the standard images

ftp://ftp-support.baynetworks.com/pub/swcode/2000/ethernet/281x/

a 2814 is a VERY old product by this time, I would seriously consider cheap switches instead, ( I am not running 2814s with more than 5 users at this point

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Thanks, I think those addresses are where I got my images. I haven't tried the 'sa' folder, but I think they're the advanced analyzer images. I don't have a lot to lose, though (correct me if I'm wrong...)

Yes, they're old, but I need management above all else. I have a homegrown solution for intruder detection and timed shutdown of ports (they're in boarding school residences).

If I replace, I really need to replace them all at once. I'm trying to convince the powers that be to let me replace our classroom network (mixed 350/450 and 303/310 switches) with all 450 stacks, and move the 303/310s to the residences.

I was just able to (finally) retire a 3000 chassis this year. It's *reeeel nice* if anyone's interested in running some 72-node shared ethernet segments. ;-)

I am still running 2 3000 chassis for the terminal servers in them, and about 5 2814s and 102s where I have small (4 or under) user bases including one just so I can ping a single non IP device and know it is working.

but for most uses, folks would be better off with cheapo switches

What confuses me is that I seemed to have the advanced functionality when I first flashed the 5.3.3 image onto it. I was able to do a query of attached nodes/ports. It was just a lot slower (I've noticed the same effect after updating the 350/450 switches--assumed some extra code or processes in the image slowing things down).

I've since tried flashing all those images, including the same 5.3.3 image/cfg and I can't do the same query. It's just not in the MIB.

The cfg file has a 'key-code' section. If I ever had an activation key (8-digit hex code) it's lost in the mists of time. I wondered whether that had anything to do with it.

My other hubs don't show a code installed. Very strange.

Hi - I'm having to support some old lattishub 2813/14 hubs. How do you manage these? I can't telnet or http to them. Any ideas is helpful.

Thanks, Mikey

You should be able to serial and SNMP into them, additionally OSM has an extremely rudamentory view of the blinky lights.

ONM will be the 'best' for 2813/4s any version since about 5 should be fine.
