I just wanted to know if this component was dependant on the fact that the Symposium Webclient be installed for it to function?

Yes, plus you have to have multicast enabled on your network.
The SWC server talks to Symposium and the ADD talks to the SWC server...
If you don't want to install the SWC server you can still use SymonView, but you'll still need multicast enabled for it to work.
