After Spyware/Yahoo Bar Removal IE6 is SLOW

Hi there. After I uninstalled the Yahoo bar from IE6 and ran Spybot, the user's IE6 has developed an annoying habit. Upon opening a new window of IE6, the first page that loads up (and it doesn't matter what it is) times out after 30sec - 1min. If I hit refresh, the desired page comes right up. While that window is open, I can go to different sites and they load up right away. Any new windows that get opened, though, have the same timeout problem.

This is installed on an XP SP2 laptop. I have reinstalled SP2, disabled and re-enabled IE from the Windows components list, and have not come up with a fix yet. Anyone have any insight on how to fix this, or where the problem is coming from?

Sorry for the double-post, I am looking for options on how to delete this one. System sent me a notice after my first notice which said the post didn't go through.. Sigh...

You symptoms describe a corrupt index.dat in your Temporary Internet Files folder.
