not
# type term=ibm3151
but
# export TERM=vt100
or
# setenv TERM=vt100

and then set it for sure with #smitty tty

logout

login again - enjoy

You will need to change the TERM variable which is different from term.

type TERM=ibm3151 <ENTER>
type smit <ENTER>

You display should be OK.

Hello,
The main question that comes to mind is What kind of console you are on.
Is it graphics or ascii console on Rs/6000. or you are using the Exceed or one of the x emulator program.

if you give answer to above then further help can be provided.

I use IBM3151 monitor on 7013-J50.

try to press LeftCtrl+GrayMinus on your keyboard to have a look at the mode terminal is set up

a command line filled from next line
eval `tset -Qs \?vt220`
will start asking you about terminal settings from vt220

My keyboard does not have GrayMinus key.

I tried # export TERM=vt100
the message appears readable but the cursor at the bottom right of screen, so I can't do anything.

cursor is not always pointing where you need to focus on - there is some Bold or Inverse in smitty's focus or maybe nothing :-( - try to setup 3151 and aix consistent - eg vt100 or ibm3151 on both

I type # eval 'tset-sQ?$TERM' <Enter>
Ksh:tset-sQ?ibm3151 : not found
How can I make system recognize the monitor I use ibm3151?

the symbol around tset is a "`" (to the left of 1) but not the "'" (to the left of Enter)

i think 3151 is a text-based serial terminal, so DISPLAY should be unset there eg # unset DISPLAY
or running a text-mode-only version of smit called smitty

an "ibm3151" emulates many different other terminals which can be found in it's guide and in setup menus

guide is caled somthing like IBM3151 ASCII terminal user's guide

Thanks for everyone help. I fixed my problem
