after internet server 1

hi!

after succesfully installing internet server
using iptables with the help of some friends here.

im having problem with my client im getting ip adddress 127.0.0.1 and localhost as my computer name

i cant play lan games such as nba live 2003 and c&c generals.

any inputs will appreciate thanks in advance

This is your loopback device not your NIC. If a simple "ifconfig" command only shows the loopback device(127.0.0.1) then either your NIC(eth0) is down or drivers are not installed. Do an "ifconfig eth0 up" eth0 will come up or you will get an "unkown device " error message. If eth0 comes up without an ip address(if DHCP IS ENABLED) then type " service network restart". For manual assignment type" ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.1(replace with your ip address) netmask 255.255.255.0 up". I hope this helps to get you back on track.

hi thanks

iam very new with linux
i have setup linux redhat as internet server
and my clients are windows98

then on the clients i manually change ip with 10.0.X.X
and the internet connection works fine and faster
but when i play nba and some games and also in vb6
iam getting ip add "127.0.0.1" hostname "localhost" on all client computer

any idea hows solve this problem thanks again
