After installing Laserjet 3380, having toolbox trouble

After installing the Laserjet 3380 and it's software, I get an error when launching the toolbox. Here is the error:

"Apache Tomcat/4.0.3 - HTTP Status 500 - Internal Server Error

type - Exception Report
message - internal server error
description - the server encountered an internal error (internal server error) that prevented it from fulfilling this request

Exception - javax.servlet.servletexception: servlet execution threw an exception"

At this point there is a bunch of lines of text. The first one is:

"at org.apache.catalina.core.applicationfilterchain.internaldofilter(applicationfilterchain.java:269)"

So, has anyone seen this before and could give me any helpful ideas?

Make sure you have java installed on your computer (

http://java.sun.com).

Did you install the software with your firewall and antivirus/spyware turned off?

Yes, java is installed. Firewall/antivirus turned off.

The printer can't serve up the webpage. Probably a bad PROM, you should return the unit as defective.

Could there be a java setting somewhere that is causing this issue?

Note the term 'internal'. The printer is hosed, imho.
