Hello

i would like to ask you for tips & tricks to upload / edit devices in the AES database.

The fact is that using the normal interface one by one could lead me to Carpal tunnel syndrome quickly (need to upload about 1000 devices)

Claus Regenbrecht develop an utility that was very useful in AES 4.2, unfortunately is not working on 5.x and Claus said he hoped avaya to improve the interface for 5.x

[guess thtat many of you shall be hoping that too!]

I have used the SDB export/import utility but I have a big doubt

APARENTLY when I import and old SDB with few devices, the devices are not erased, the are ADDED,
would I need to cread an script with DELETE commands to be able to erase series of devices?

what could the worst, can I CORRUPT the SDB? - would one have to reinstall AES?

Thanks you very much, I am a little desperated

The database is PostgreSQL. The server is set up on port 5430 instead of the standard 5432. You need to modify the iptables to open up the port. If you know PostgreSQL you should have no problem accessing the system from there.

Its a great Idea Jimbo, tweaking the DB directly,
I am trying to get DBname user and password, do you know something about it?

Thanks

Postgress username and password is provided during AVP installation.

But You can set it manually using:
/opt/Avaya/VoicePortal/Support/VP-Tools/SetDbPassword/SetDbPassword.sh
