Hi all,

I'm receiving this error message on hundreds apon hundreds of files, all from a netware agent: AE3011 Failed to open file <file path>

I don't get this error message from any of the files being backed up through a NT agent.

CA support site have this article:
But I've tried all the options its speaks about with no results.

Another interesting point is the guy before me never got this error but his back up job always finished in the incomplete state. My backup job finishes in the finished state, but with the errors.

I'm running ARCserve for NT 6.61 sp2a and connecting to a netware agent on a 4.11 netware box.

Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks

Ensure that you have the latest version of the NetWare TSA loaded on your NetWare 4.11 server. If you don't, get an updated copy from the Novell website. There are two three you need to be concerned about:

Either TSA411.NLM or TSA500.NLM
and
TSANDS.NLM

Are you running Support Pack 9 for NetWare 4.11? -----------------------------------------------------
"It's true, its damn true!"

Yes, support pack 9 is installed.

does this support pack contain the latest files you stated above?

I have TSA500.NLM not TSA411.NLM in the system directory, although TSA410.NLM, TSA400.NLM and TSA312.NLM are also present.

Thanks for your help....I'll try this and let you know how it goes.

I tried changing the retry options mentioned in the CA article, but it has made no difference.

Try loading the different TSA's. If TSA500 is loaded at the moment, unload it and try loading TSA411. Always load TSANDS -----------------------------------------------------

I didn't try the unloading and reloading of the different tsa, but I have found a fix. It is simple but a bit time consuming.

I simply made a copy of the directory/files, deleted the original and renamed the copy to the original name. The error goes away and the directory/files are backed up.

Thanks to thelad for your commits and follow ups.
