Hello, looks like the first post of the 09 in this forum, hhaha.

I need advise. I have been looking to get my MCSA and need to take the 291 and 270 in order to complete the cert. I've taken 291 twice and haven't passed it!!!

I found the MCSA 2003 would even be offered after about another 1yr and a half.

I'm starting to think I shouldn't waste my time with 2003 and start looking at learning Server 2008 and getting the equvilant MCITP for 2008???

Any advise would be very welcome!
Thank you.

You should take the certification that goes with the operating system that you normally support. If you support Windows 2003 then stick with the MCSA. If you support Windows 2008 then go for the MCTS and MCITP certifications.

Certs, exams which ever you prefer. It's 2am and I'm still working.

Stick with 2003, whilst it's an older OS you will find a lot of people are still going to be using it for years to come (if I tell you that my company are only just moving away from NT4 that should give you some idea on how long people use their Server OS's for).

I agree, I think the 2003 certification is still more useful at the moment. It usually takes a year or better before people finally start working the new OS into their deployments. Though many companies (especially smaller ones) are already deploying 2008, I work for an $80 billion company that has only just this month started evaluating it for their servers, and they still have some NT4.

Thanks everyone for your input - I guess its time for me to hit the books then! I'm going to stick it out with 2003! I have the 291 and the 270 left to go. Thinking about studying for 270 (since its easier) then tackling the 291.

270 is a walk in the park, really it is.
