advise on mitel sx 2000 1

Hello everyone im on a ship and i have a question about the mitel switch i think its an sx 2000 and i was woundering how to convert a digital phone into an anolog phone because the ships port are hardwired and i dunno where a rack is or punch block and i find it will be easier if i can change a digital into an analog.

You would need to find that punch block and change the circuit connected to the jack you want to convert.

There may be no i in team but there are three f's in fudge off.

To make the change you suggest you will need to delete the existing phone (or change it's extension number to an obscure number). Then you can create an analog extension using the original number. The digital line and the analog line will be programmed on 4 digit circuit numbers known as PLIDs. These represent the Bay-Shelf-Card-Cct location of the port. Analog phones will only be programmed on analog cards and Digital on digital. They do not mix.

If any of the above does not make sense, do not proceed.

Why change a digital phone to analog? (they use the same cables to work)

Hello everybody. I am also on this ship, trying to figure it out. We only have (2)two digital phones, and prior ro us being here they had a lot more digital phones in use, all we have left besides the two are (plain-old-telephones)pots. But the old programming remaines and we have little knowledge of mitel sx200sg. We are use to redcom and vx900 etc. and still know little of those.

When in the hyperterminal we get to where one might be able to adress the signal and change it, as one stated delete and make it new but with desired signaling. But the hyperterminal is fragile, I will trouble shoot it more, but we can not seem to be able to alter what we want. Just looking at the information it is prone to change programming. We are tryign to get a tech who knows the switch over here to proceed and teach us. But the less he has to teach the less time he has to be here the less money we have to spend.

We may have found out where the punch block, but I need to verify that.

If we can not mix or alter there states i need to know that as well.

The Digital set and Analog set they are going to be on other cards. Different LENS (Line Equipment Number) also known as PLID (the first#is Shelf, second# is Card, and third# is the Circuit on the card)

We might need more assistance. I know some basics, but we walked into a lot of preprogrammed items as we took over. I know most of the basics. TAB to move through, the + and -, Ctrl W, esc q, basic movements but it seemes to be a bit sensative just by navigating it. I do not think it has been updated in years. Keeping it refreshed seemes to help.

When in the hyperterminal and after I have already logged in, most maintainince is esc+7 here is where I would suffer you all to ask where i need to go from there.

Sorry this is very basic but you should have some sx2000 knowledge before proceeding further

when in maintenance you can use esc +2 to edit a form
esc +4 to commit changes and esc +1 to confirm changes


Before you begin have you got enough spare analogue ports to assign all the old digital phone numbers to?

Forms you will need

Muliline set assignment
In here you change the extn number to a dummy number so you can release this number so you can assign it to an analogue set
you can type over the old number you need to decide what numbers are free but I would suggest either changing the first digit or insert a digit e.g if extn numbers are 2000 to 2999 then change to 8000 to 8999 or 2*000 to 2*999
If you go to the mantainance screen you can find out what numbers are spare
type 'locate all free dn 1000 to 9999' [no quotes] (if you are using 4 digit numbers)
if you see 8000-8999 listed free then then you could use this range or indeed any range that has sufficient numbers to make your changes

Once you have renumbered your digital extns to dummy numbers you will need to assign the actual numbers to the analogue ports

go to the single line assignment form
here you can now program the analogue extns

You will need to give these new numbers a classo service and restriction (I would use what the digital extns had)

open station service assignment form

in here assign correct cos/cor

Lastly if you are using the phonebook then you will need to assign names to numbers

go to telephone directory assignment form
