Advice Please

I hope this is the correct forum to ask this question. I am from the U.K and my boss has asked me to look at enabling our 500 strong Area Manager team to be able to give them remote access to our company while on the road. Can anyone suggest the best methods of doing this ??

Find out the server you are using and posting it there might work better. If you are using MS 2000 server and have a fixed ip address you can use remote desktop connection built into windows. I know it will work for a couple of users but 500 not sure. For example at home I just type in the ip address under remot desktop and log onto the server.

Remote Desktop will only work for 2 sessions and for Administrators only unless you buy user cals.

What you need is an enterprise VPN (Virtual Private Network) solution which will allow for remote working. Solely using RDP is not appropriate for what you want to do....you could however have VPN connections to the network, and then RDP connection on the persons laptop to allow them to connect to their desktop as though they were physically sitting at it (not sure about user limitations on this though? THis is what I have set up where I work although there are only 3 remote users.)

get a ISA server 2004 thats just what u need to solve your problem........ once set up it correctly it will allow all 500 in.....

Yes ISA server would indeed be a suitable package

You would need the enterprise edition so dont expect it to be cheap lol.

Or use a Citrix Connection and a VPN. Again, not cheap you can run all (well most) apps via that.
