Hi, I'm not very familiar with autoloaders so I was hoping someone here might provide me with some additional insight.

Our IT needs just recently grew from 2 Servers (1 person) to 8 Servers. (All W2K) I will be needing to backup all of these systems, so here's what I was thinking:

I'd rather buy an AutoLoader then buy 8 DLT Tape Drives. All of our Servers have two 1 Gbps NICs. I was thinking of having a dedicated backup server running backup exec, to which the Autoloader would be attached, then buy a Gigabit switch, connect all of my servers on this so I could run backups over it without impacting LAN traffic to the servers from users.

I'm a programmer so I'm seriously out of my element, but was wondering if I am on the right course. Anyone?

Ok... I've bought all the necessary stuff... but I have one problem:

One of our machines is an Oracle9i application server (apache http server w/ web based administration) running on Window 2000 Server. When I plug the box into my backup/storage network, all is well and I can backup just fine. However, if I ever restart the server, the app server can no longer be contacted from the regular LAN via http. I have to restart again, with the backup/storage LAN disabled or disconnected.

I'm not quite sure what's going on here. Can the system not come up properly on two networks?

I haven't been able to find any good resources for this specific information... help is appreciated.
