HEy guys. I have a customer who has a CICS in their home. The technician who installed the system also made provisions for regular portable house phones to use line 1 by sending the dial tone to the phones then to the system. However, when they are receiving calls on line 1 the portable phones ring and not the norstar phones and it seems this is because of the current setup. My solution is to install an ATA for every portable phone in the house. I just want a confirmation from you guys that this would be the best solution AND also since i have not worked with ATAs too much besides one other customer i would like to know what the dial out procedure would be like if he wanted to make a call from the portable phone. The reason i asked that is because the customer wants the system to be as user friendly as possible. Will i have to create a line pool for the phones on the ATA? I can't remember, let me know. Thanks

Don't forget you'll lose CLID on the cordless phones (assuming the phone is so equipped). I had mine hooked up via the ATA until I got tired of no caller ID.

Only 1 built in ATA on the CICS

Depending if they need there own ext or not there is the option of looping them onto the same ATA.

No, there is nothing fancy required for this customer. He won't need caller ID on them or anything like that. From what it sounds like though, it could be a fualt with the system causing it not to ring on the norstar phones. Maybe i'll try punching down on the line 3 position and see if that solves his problem.
