Hi

I am new to Crystal reports and so would appreciate some advice on the following setup.

I have a small network (without a server). On this network I have a PC with the database and on another machine I want to use crystal reports to write and view reports based on the data in the database.

I have written some basic reports which work OK but I have been unable to use the repository as I get the error message about 'no central management server is running on port 6400'.

I did plan to use a VB6 front end to view my reports, is this the best way with my setup or is there a better way, also is there any way to use the repository on a non server system.

I have both CRXI Developer which I have been using and CRXI professional which I havenot installed. Both PC's are XP Proffesional.

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

The repository is a component of Crystal Reports Server/Business Objects Enterprise and you would have to purchase this product in order to use it.

You may have a copy of the Report server with the Developer package. Install that and you can use the repository.

Hi

Thanks for your post. I installed CR Server but still get the same error message.

Run the Crystal Configuration Manager (from Start|Programs|crystal enterprise) you may need to start the CMS or check the configuration properties to see if 6400 is the servers port.

Hi

I don't have Crystal Enterprise and I don't have a server

Sorry I meant CR Server instead of enterprise. You said you installed it in the post above my last one.
