advent ade -210F wireless connection

My son has an Advent ADE - 210F desktop PC but cannot make wireless connections. Message says there are no wireless networks available.
Is it a wireless switch that needs to be switched, if so how?

the only thing i found are Advent ADE - 210F PC speaker, can you clarify that

"Message says there are no wireless networks available"

so you have a wireless card up and running on the desktop, now you need an accesspoint to connect to.
do you have one?
