Currently have a NT4.0 and windows 2000 network in a workgroup.
I'm wondering whether to migrate this network to a Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 domain.
I know Windows 2000 very well, but no little about Windows 2003. I've installed 2003 and played a little, I'm interested in gonig to windows 2003 because it has condiontial DNS forwarding - which would be a massive advantage in our large network.

So I'm wondering what only advantages (or disadvantages) it has from a sysadmin point of view?

Hi

In August we upgraded 2 servers from NT 4.0 to Windows 2003. And we bought a new one with Windows 2003. They are all 3 domaincontrollers in seperate network. The old ones are working just fine, we have had absolutlig none problems. The new one won't even start anymore!

But still I think 2003 is best, it has alot of safety rools and it's easy to administrate. And I like that if you forget do give premisson, the users just have read as a standard. Not like in NT when standard was everyone full control.

With 2003 it's harder to connect workstations with software older than NT 4.0 ore home editions.

We have had problems with some programs that are not compatible with 2003 jet.

I hope this was a little help making you decision!

Janne
