I am trying to justify an upgrade from embedded to Pro. We want one particular feature that allows voicemails to be forwarded to e-mail.

What would be one or two other "gotta have" features that can justify the expense. Thanks in advance.

Below is the feature comparison, after the feature the top answer is VM Pro the bottom Embedded:

WOW, thanks for the reply.

You are saying that embedded will do forward to e-mail as well?

Yes :)

I guess I thought it WAS NOT based on this passage from the online manual

Voicemail Email: Default = Blank (No voicemail email features)
This field is used to set the user or group email address used by the voicemail server for voicemail email operation. When an address is entered, the additional Voicemail Email control below are selectable to configure the type of voicemail email service that should be provided.

USe of voicemail email requires the Voicemail Pro server to have been configured to use either a local MAPI email client or an SMTP email server account.

· The use of voicemail email for the sending (automatic or manual) of email messages with wav files attached should be considered with care. A one-minute message creates a 1MB .wav file.

probably an overhang, the feature has only come to embedded "recently"

set your smtp details in the smtp tab in system settings and you're good to go.

See what my brain does when it's not thinking about phones.

That's an earlier manual, email options are on later releases of software, what level are you on?

^good point andy.

although, it might still be worth pushing for vmpro, it does open a lot of doors.

Programming is easier, much more solid than embedded cards, which can be flakey, without knowing your specific needs, it would be hard to give a definitive list of why you should swap though,.

In fact more misleading than a mistake it just doesn't mention that embedded also does it rather than saying it doesn't :)

As a confirmation we just went live on the 4th with our's and got the forward to e-mail with embedded working today. Setup was pretty simple.

One note: if you use a Blackberry solution, make sure your server has Windows Media Player installed or the berries won't be able to play the .wav files.
