Couple questions??
Can I use the same ends (pre pollished) for terminating 62.5 and 50 micron fiber. Some are saying yes, others are saying no. Any suggestions?????
I guess the answer is yes. Friday of last week I terminated Ortronics pre pollished mm 62.5 to Advanced Light 50 micron fiber. I couldn't access the other buildings to test the fiber at the time. (working very late on Friday). The only source I had to test with was the switch. It did not link. This morning I received a call that the other end was not plugged in. Once it was plugged in, everything worked fine. So I guess the answer is yes. This makes my week a whole lot better than it was going to be. Thanks for the reply.
After reading the above, I would say that they would work but it is not going to be very pretty on a OTDR. Most networking gear is pretty easy on fiber and can have as much as a 10db loss and still work fine.

Thanks for the replies. I talked to the manufacturer rep for the ortronics ends, and he replied much the same. Although he is in favor of the fiber passing, just no where close to what it would do with the correct ends. Something I left out earlier is that the fiber was only reterminated on one end, thereby leaving the other end with the correct connectors. He did say that if both ends were terminated with 62.5, I could be in a little trouble on passing. I'll be testing the fiber on Friday of this week. I'll post the results, if they're not to bad. Thanks for the help.
