Hello,

I and running Citrix MF on Windows 2000 servers. We are running Adobe Acrobat Reader on these servers. Whenever a user tries to print a PDF file, this print dialog box comes up, the users clicks print and nothing comes out.

Upon research we found that instead of going to the printer, the output is going to the users home directory (specified in AD U&C Term Serv Profile Tab) with a filename of the printer port (in this case the IP address of the printer) with no file extension.

I've seen several people report this problem on other forums (including the Adobe forums) but have yet to find an answer. Please help!

I've got exactly the same problem and have not found a fix. Did you get anywhere with this?

Yes, I have found a solution. Here is the answer... You have to contact MS for a patch.

Redirected Printing Through a Terminal Services Session May Not Work with Windows 2000 SP3
The information in this article applies to:
Microsoft Windows 2000 Server SP3
Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP3
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional SP3
This article was previously published under Q328020
SYMPTOMS
After you apply Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) on a computer that is accessed by using Terminal Services, you may sporadically not be able to print to redirected local printers if the document that is being printed is opened from a mapped network drive. The document seems to be printed, but if you view the event log entry for the print job, you see that the UNC path of the mapped drive is added to the typical Terminal Services port. If you view the network folder that is the mapped network drive, you see a file that is named with the port number (in this case TS012). This is a sample event for such a print job:
Event Type: Information
Event Source: Print
Event Category: None
Event ID: 10
Date: 8/5/2002
Time: 8:32:39 AM
User: Domainname\User1
Computer: Server
Description:
Document 208, Microsoft Word - memo.doc owned by User1 was printed on HP DeskJet 550C Printer/User1/Session 12 via port \\server\share\folder\subfolder\TS012. Size in bytes: 0; pages printed: 1
RESOLUTION
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows 2000 service pack that contains this fix.

To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the fix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product Support Services phone numbers and information about support costs, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
NOTE: In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines that a specific update will resolve your problem. The typical support costs will apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for the specific update in question.

The English version of this fix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.
Date Time Version Size File name
--------------------------------------------------------
15-Aug-2002 22:23 5.0.2195.5950 381,712 Printui.dll
15-Aug-2002 22:23 5.0.2195.6019 114,448 Winspool.drv
15-Aug-2002 22:23 5.0.2195.5996 54,544 Wlnotify.dll

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem without applying the hotfix, print the document from a UNC path instead of from a mapped drive. For example, if you typically print from drive M, which is mapped to a network share, print the document directly from the UNC path (\\servername\share).
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
