Relavent computer specs (in case they are asked) :

- 3.5+ ghz 64 bit AMD Proccessor
- 2 gigs of kingston ddr ram
- Radeon x800xl

The video specs when I recorded through a program called Game Cam (similar to fraps)

- The video specs when recorded were 640x480
- Framerate : 20 (i tried 30 didnt change a thing)
- Video sample size 16 bit
- Compression : MS-MPEG4 V2
- Data rate : 479 kbs

When viewed in windows media player the recording is smooth. However when imported into adobe premiere quick movements in the recording cause choppyness, it isnt quite choppyness as it is like an "artifact" (i might be using the word incorrectly) of the previous frames. For instance if my mouse was to move quickly across the monitor it would show the mouse in the starting spot.

I tried troubleshooting this on my own ...
the first thing i tried of course was rendering the timeline - nothing.

Second I tried different custom settings to no avail.

If anybody can help me it would be much appreciated

- Evan

I forgot to mention that the video I was viewing in adobe premiere 2 were AVI type.

MPEG formats are compressed videos - in editing software such as Premiere they are notoriously difficult to edit because of that fact. It's always better to edit noncompressed videos in formats such as AVI.

Apologies - I missed the second post. You said the Game Cam software encoded the video to MPEG4, but your second post claims they are AVI. If it is indeed AVI, are you sure it is not compressed (it's possible to have compressed AVIs).

yeah it definitly is compressed avi, i found out though if i re-encode this AVI (compressed)from mpeg4 to the cinepak avi codec that it is no longer choppy.

Thanks - i think that adobe premiere has a problem with mpeg4
