We receive PDF files from overseas. The PDF's have text, logos, import stamps, etc. Obviously the sender is scanning a paper document and then sending as a PDF.

We do not currently use Adbobe (except Reader) and was wondering if Adbode will allow us to edit the PDF emailed to us? We would have to edit the text and remove some of the logos, stamps, etc.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Not if it's a scan. A scan is just one big picture with no reeal "text".

Acrobat pro does allow you to do many things with any pdf. Your best bet would be to download the trial version from Adobe.

Thank you for your reply.
I have downloaded Pro 7.0 trial version.

What I am reading across the Net is that Adobe Pro will only only minor changes. Thus far I have been unable to make the edit changes to the PDF with Pro.

Are you saying that since the document was scanned that Pro will probably not allow any significant editing?

Would Illustrator work?

Acorbat pro will probably not do what you need - nor will Illustrator.

Photoshop WILL allow you to do just about anything with any document.

Thanks, this confirms my opinion.

You would need jmgalvin said. You would have to try and match the font or fonts that are in the scan or use copy and paste. If there are alot of pages it could take some time.

You might want to try and run the document through the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) mechanism. Document>Optical Character Recognition (OCR)

This allows Acrobat to try and figure out what the characters are then you will be able to do some limited editing. But be warned, this is not an exact science (although I hear A8 is much better at it) and if your scan is not a clear scan it could mean alot of work. You would also want to double-check how they interpeted

As for removing logos and stamps, you can use a white, read-only text box to cover the logo/stamps.

I appreciate the replies.
It appears (based upon our tests) that for scanned documents our editing will be very limited but we may be able to to get by.

Thanks once again.
