First of all, I run W2K, PS7, Samsung 753DF, and a Radeon vid card.

When I go to run Adobe Gamma to calibrate my monitor (colors are way off) it says

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!!
Program C:\winnt\system32\rundll32.exe
abnormal program termination

(click ok)

...and then ends the program

I have tried reinstalling PS twice, to no avail.

Thank You in advance!!!!!!

Have you Googled™ the error!? Methinks you have a Microsoft error rather than a Photoshop one.

Blame not the Adobe, young Jedi.

I have not found anything on google as of yet, problems are still the same.....

I have the identical problem. W2K, PS7, NEC LCD1715, Radeon (old-7200) video card.

Google yields no results.

I've recently changed the monitor (LCD from a small CRT), and I've installed MS .NET framework... other then that nothing. Not sure I've run Adobe Gamma before but have Dell Latitude/W2K/PS7 that runs it fine. Intersting that the Dell has a rundll32.exe date of:26/07/2000, where as the desktop has 7/12/1999. Can't for the life of me see why that's different (both fully windows updated).

Any clues?

Well I wish I knew why, but I finally got Gamma to run correctly...the only thing I can think of that I have run differently is I got rid of the photo for my desktop and am now using a blue color. I tried reinstalling my video card, updating w2k, reinstalling ps7 twice, everything, but all of a sudden it works...???????

What Antivirus are you using? I use PCcillian 2003 fully updated, and right after Gamma started running again I had to reinstall it..?

...and guess what else, rundll32.exe creation date of 5-18-2001, its directory c:\winnt\system32\ has a creation date of 8-22-2002?

I AM CONFUSED, BUT ALL IS WORKING!!

Alright, I've changed/updated/reinstalled various things over the last week (checking Adobe Gamma each time). Today I completely uninstalled my Radeon drivers (restarted) then installed them again. Now it all works. I guess it's something to do with mangled Radeon driver versions? Just a hunch.

>I guess it's something to do with mangled Radeon driver versions?

most likely. either bad drivers (or funky install) or is it possible that the card came with it's own calibration sw that was interfering with adobe gamme? anyway, glad you're working.
