adobe reader " There was an error opening this document. A temporary file could not be opened."

I have tried to install reader 6, 7 to no avail, i then uninstalled everything and installed 5, now i get the error above.

This is getting old.

Is this with all PDF's, or one in particular?
If it is a certain one, I would suspect the file is bad/ corrupted.

I uninstalled everything and went to adobe 7.0 reader. It came up fine the first time, then after I close it, it won't open again, just hangs in taskmanager and never gets above 5,900K Mem usage - AcroRd32.exe. I kinda wish everyone would quit making .pdf's and just use html, wouldn't it make everything more simple?

Oh, I forgot to answer the previous post, yes, I've tried it with numerous .pdf files.

thanks for the reply

Hey Joenok

I had a similar problem..... if you look in C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Temp and look for files starting with ACR* they will most probably be 0kb delete all of them (i had around 65,000 of them) after i did this it all worked fine....

Thanks DoubleDIP, I had found that out before and had forgotten to update Tek Tips! It was really weird, now I can copy and delete things from Adobe in there and it works good. Adobe Tech Support actually stated that it was an issue with Illustrator, that if you save a document and move it, some situations Illustrator is still pointing to the original location and it is held open.

thanks for the reply!
