Adobe discontinues PageMaker

Yes, read and try to do so with comprehension... Adobe has NOT said they are 'discontinuing' PM. Yet. But, we can hear the death knell in the distance.

The amazing Carnac predicts thatthe 'discontinuation' of PM will be announced next year. Write it on your calendars!

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

As it is written, so shall it be!

What hurts for my company in that ID doesn't support OLE linking of charts between Excel and ID. We'll continue to use PM to work thru our next busy season which will end sometime this summer, but then we'll have to do some serious looking at ID or switching over to Quark6 which does support OLE. Anyone heard of any third-party plug-ins which might help us with linking in ID?

Hi, horqua,

> ID doesn't support OLE linking of charts between Excel and ID

I can't say I'm surprised. I never found OLE particularly stable even when used exclusively between MS products, it restricted transferring documents between PCs and was never happy in the PS environment.

My experience of InD is limited, but I do know it imports Excel tables easily and reliably.

BigJohn,
How bout charts? I know ID imports Excel tables easily but I need to be able to import Excel and Harvard charts too. What has your experience been with importing charts into ID?

Hi, horqua,

Very limited. The chart was in *.GIF format from the HTML export process. AFAIK they can't be copied'n'pasted directly, but I'm not too clued up on it.
