I installed Exchange 2000 and everything is working fine except the administrator mailbox. Active directory says there is a mailbox but there is no mailbox in the mailbox store and I can not resolve to it in outlook. All of the Administrator and postmaster messages are backing up in the queues.

Any ideas about how to fix this? Active Directory Users and Computers will not let me delete the mailbox. So I can’t recreate it.

It is not hidden. If the mailbox was hidden it would still show up in the mailbox store and all the messages would not be sitting in the queues.

I went there first. None of my searches brought up anything even close. I was hoping someone out here would have some idea.

What makes you think ADUC thinks there is a mailbox there? Are you sure it's not just an AD account? Have you attempted to migrate this mailbox from a previous system?

Right click on the object in ADUC and choose EXCHANGE TASKS. What options do you have?? If CREATE MAILBOX is an option then there is no mailbox.

I know it thinks there is a mailbox because it has the additional exchange tabs on the account properties and when I select exchange tasks the only option is Enable Instant Messaging.

Is there a way to change system messages to a different account? If I can do that I don’t care if I can fix the mailbox. I just need to be able to see system messages and stop clogging up the queues.
