Hello all,
I am using IBM Http Server which is based on the Apache server. I am trying to understand how can I access the administration server, the default port 8008 returns a "page not found" error.

The documentation at IBM only says that: "you can install the IBM Administration Server at: but it does not say how you do it. I dont even know if it is already installed !.

Do I have to "start" the administration server?

The ibm http server is running on AIX 5.1.

Any help to this newbie will be apreciated, regards,

YSerrano

By default, all http traffic comes in on port 80 so that's the one web servers listen on. You can change it by using the "Listen" directive. For example:

Listen 192.168.1.20:8008

Of course, you would use the ip of your server. If you have a "port" directive, make sure it is commented out or set to 8008. Now be aware the when someone makes a request in there browser, they will need to specify the port since it is not the standard http port (80). They would have to enter it like this:

I am not trying to access the http default port (80), but the administration server port (8008).

Regards,

yserrano,

According to IBM's documentation for HTTP Server, the HTTP Server Administration interface can be started by issuing the following command:
STRTCPSVR SERVER(*HTTP) HTTPSVR(*ADMIN)

After starting the server, bring up a browser window and enter the following URL:

http://[your_iSeries]:2001/HTTPAdmin

Thank you Wishdiak,
Do you know the command for the pSeries platform? I am not using iSeries [sadeyes]

yserrano,

I tried Googling the pSeries and didn't have the same luck as I did with the iSeries. Is there no manual for your server that might have this information?
