On a certain NT4 Workstation PC with SP5, I'm having a problem with admin default shares disappearing. The default C$, D$, admin$ etc. become unshared whenever the PC is logged out of NT after logging in as an admin and setting the shares manually. What can I do to keep the shares connected all the time? It's causing problems with remote virusscan updates.

Thanks,
Charles H.

Charles,

Do you create the shares as an admin and then log in as a user?

In that case the shares will not stay. What virus checker are you using?

Assume you are talking about C$,D$ etc.

I'm using McAfee Management Edition that allows me to push out the .dat files to all PCs from the servers. If admin$ is not shared on the PC, the update cannot be performed.

I've tried creating the shares as the user and an admin. Yeah, the c$, d$, admin$ shares are not staying shared. I thought these were shared by default...

Thanks
