admin account and needing to restore w2k DC

I need to demote and then promote my w2k DC due to a problem in DNS during installation causing a disjointed name space (company instead of company.com like all others).

My concern is if i do that and restore with the same admin name and password will my exchange server have a problem communicating?

let me add that the computer name is "computername.domain" instead of "computername.domain.com" which is the problem.
