Adjust width of shadow on every other record

Is it possible to set the width of shading on a record?

I am currently using the formula:

If Remainder(recordnumber,2) =0 Then Silver Else NoColor

This formula allows shading to stretch across the entire page.

I would like to reduce the width of the shading to left align with a certain column.

Do I need add a "Margins" equation to the existing formula?

You could accomplish this by laying a text box over the area you want shaded. Then format the text box using your formula. Finally, right click on the field and choose "Move to back" so that the fields underneath appear.

A very creative idea.

However, instead of formatting the text box with my formula, I formatted the text box by checking the Text Rotation box in the Format Editor \ Common tab and selected 90 degrees, although 270 works as well

Thus, the result was a perfectly aligned shadow under my selected column.

Just to add on to my previous reply, I had to ensure select the color WHITE for the background color of the text box (or whatever color which corresponds to the background color of the page)
