Thanks for all the help on the last question re two CC batches. I found an easier solution, beat up your merchant services so the rates are the same and you don't need to do anything special.

However I have one new question, my interchange fees are pretty high due to card not present transactions, a lack of address verifaction (AVS) and the three or four digit code, any way to enter that info on FOH and or BOH?

Thanks!

If you have Aloha version 5.3.21e and higher and are using Visanet, Alohanet, BA Merchant Services, or RBS Lynk you can use address verification. If you have Aloha Version 5.3.10 and higher, you can use CCV. You have to set both up in Aloha Manager under the payment tenders I believe.

Thanks, I have the 3/4 digit CID/CCV # already but doesn't look like I'll be able to do the AVS. Thanks for the help!

New Question,
It doesn't appear that the 3/4 digit CCV value is being passed to EDC, FOH requires that it is entered, but no extra values doesn't appear in the TXN files, and if I put a bad value in the card still goes through.

Does EDC still pass the CCV data back to the processor or am I just wasting time?

If the value doesn't go back to the processor I dont' see any benefit to entering it.

Thanks

I've only used CCV and address verification at a few sites. Supposedly it is passed through to EDC, but you have to contact the processor to see if they get that information.

Unless the latest round of reg changes addressed this (which I doubt, because I think I would have heard about it), AVS can affect your discount rate BUT CVV2 (et. al.) does not. Your MSP may require CVV2 and/or AVS because of risk concerns, but only AVS will make any difference in your rate.

Also, a hole in the AVS rate rule is that AVS only needs to be attempted to get the rate benefit -- the AVS info does not have to be correct. The bank can return a response indicating that the zip code is not even close and you'll still get the better rate. This will most likely change sometime, but this hole has been here for several years now.
