Hi Guys,

Looking for some help with a data access page i use for my work. Basically the page lists all the records for phone messages in a data list, its pretty simple. My problem is when i want to add a new record the new blank fields appear way way way at the bottom of the page instead nearer the top.

I was wondering is there any way to make it so that when the Add new record thing is pressed, the new blank entry fields appear at the top of the page. Just so the user doesnt have to scroll all the way to the bottom to fill in the fields.

Any help would be brilliant, Thanks!!

I know that with a regular Access form, to place the new record boxes onthe top, you can use two continuous subforms. The top one would have its DataEntry property set to True so that it shows either blank fields or the record currently being entered; the lower one would have AllowAdditions set to false so that it shows *only* the existing records. If you carefully position the two subforms, it can be made to look like one subform with the data entry at the top.
With DAP's, you can create a hyperlink to another DAP that is just a copy of your first, but in design view, click on Edit, then Select Page, click the All tab and change Data Entry to True.

Managed to do it on a form before yeah but it isn't as nearly accessible as an access page, unless there is something i'm missing.

Basically i want a way for numerous people at any one time to input data into this database for new phone messages or be able to scroll through the old messages that have been saved and refer to any that need to be delt with. My understandign was that the only way to really do that is with a Data Access Page, but can you also do it with a Form?

Are you on an INTRAnet or INTERnet? If you're on an intranet, then you have options like putting the database on a shared drive or splitting the db.
If you're on an internet, then forms won't work. You must code within the Internet Explorer environment, that's what a DAP does or you do directly using VBScript or JScript. A DAP is not part of Access, but is a web page. This also means the concept of form/subform doesn't exist with DAP'S. You use hyperlinks to jump from a web page to another. So, again in your case, I'd just have one DAP showing old data, then have a hyperlink to an identical one for inputting new data. The user won't know the difference.
The other way to solve your problem is to put up a citrix server ( and have your clients remotely login to the standalone database. That way they have direct access and you don't need DAP's or ASP coding or whatever.
