Dear All,

I have installed additional HDD in my Windows NT 4 Server. Unfortunately, the server could not detect the new one.

Can anyone help me to solve the problem ?

Thanks,
Hery S.

you need to supply more info

is the drive to be added to an array or ?
server type -?

if it's an array then you need to add the disk to the arrya and expand it for the os to see it

Thanks Terry for your quick response.

Yes, the drive ( 9 GB Hot Plug ) to be added to an array.
Server type : Compaq Proliant 2500.

Best regards,
Hery

You will probably have to add it in the RAID config upon booting the server.

[blue]Arguably the best cat skinner around ! [/blue]

Cheers

You should just be able to run the ACU from within Windows to add the drive to the array. Then you can create a new partition to use the available space. If you want to extend an existing partition you will probably have to use some 3rd party tools like Volume Manager.

If it doesn't leak oil it must be empty!!

you will not have to reboot - in fact i prefer if all disk stuff is done online

you should have the acu installed under compaq tools - if not you can download it from compaq site

this will allow you to expand array and with a 2500 you will most likely not be allowed to expand the logical partition but you will be able to create a new logical partition - but as said above as it's ms you will need partition magic or such like if you need to epand a drive letter representation

Dear Ascotta, Norton and Terry,

Thank you very much for your guide line.

The ACU not found in the server's programs list ( ?? ).

OK, I will install it first.

Best regards,
Hery S.
