I have a Dell V350, 128 Ram, 10 Gig hard drive running XP. I have a 20G hard drive left over from a bad machine. I want to put it in the Dell. Is this a good idea or not. The old hard drive has WIN98 on it. Any recomendations on proceeding will be appreciated. Thanx Eddiep

Go for it Eddie.

I did a similar thing with my PC. I did have to check the jumper settings on the (IDE) disks to check for master/slave settings. Master = boot disk, slave = secondary.

Yup! set the jumper to slave, attach it to the piggy back connecter on the primary IDE cable(with the other hard drive) Boot it up! it shouldn't try to boot from 98 unless someone has set it wrong in the bios.
just right click on the drive and do a quick format, and away you go!
You may need to change from Fat32 file system to NTFS (depending how you have your existing XP?? but it gives you the choice , just sellect the correct tab. Martin
