adding swatches

...what are you trying to achieve, a pattern swatch?
...do you mean image as in "imported bitmap graphic" with a bounding box (no fill, no stroke) sent behind???
...if so, you can't add bitmap images to the swatches palette...

...how are you trying to add, drag and drop or some other method?
...live trace images can be added to the swatches palette, but without seeing your file it is tricky to pinpoint exactly what your issue might be...
