Adding separate IPO on same network

I was wondering if you can add an IPO to a network that already has an SCN setup with out causing trouble? I have the need to add a separate IPO for a company to break out into two companies. They want to be able to reside on the same network so their new division can operate on their network but with their own phone system and voicemail. I did not know if adding the new IPO would be discovered by the existing SCN that is in place.

Just make sure your USER & HUNT GROUP numbers don't conflict between sites or you'll have issues with Voicemail for those users that conflict (if using centralized VM) and those users won't be able to be called across the network, as the system's search-order is to check the local numbering plan first.

Hope this helps...

If they are to have completley separate IPO and VM setup just make sure the IPO's have the IP address for voicemail, license key etc setup otherwise the two IP offices will be able to find each others Apps!!!

Do the two systems need to be able to access each other???

They do not need to access each other but that might be nice. I did not want to have the new company list everybody in the whole origination on voicemail just their IPO.

Hmmm, that brings up another point... If each system has its own licenceable features, they will either need their own license server, or the Serial Dongle plugged into the back of the phone system. One PC can not function as a license server for multiple PCs, or else you could have one feature key for several switches and share the license keys.

A little protection mechanism.

Provided SCN is not enabled & all the IP Addresses for VM & licece server etc are set correctly then there should be no problem.

It is supprising to see that a company that requires seperate telephony is prepared to share its data network

that's a pretty costly solution. Why not try and enter one company's employees in the system with First Name, Last Name and the other as Last Name, First Name. then on their AA in vm pro have the one search using the Last name field and the other search using the First Name field ?

might be worth giving it a go, before you add a seperate IPO and VMPro.

Their is SCN for the current IPO which connects to a central VM. The main IPO has a route to the network the new IPO will be located so will it pick up the users and extensions listed on this new IPO or does that occur when you create the VOIP Line?

It should only pick up the other IPO if your create a VOIP line with Voice Networking ticked to that between the 2.

Running 2 systems on the same network should be fine.

Are there going to be IP phones on either system connected to the network???

Could I add a VOIP line without voice networking between two systems and short codes to dial each others extensions?
Would this work with out causing a conflict on either system?

It should be ok without Voice Networking.

yes absolutely. The only thing Voice Networking gets you is the "database swap". You could even use QSIG and keep your DSS status lights..... I've done QSIG as a "redundant link" since they don't officially support SCN in any form but Hub and Spoke.
