I have setup SBS 2003 R2 for my brother and his new business. He has internal email and all that sort. He has the domain registerd and a one-page website saying that a more complete site will be up soon. Currently, if you go to i get a web page telling me that i failed to log in. I have the remote work space up on port 443 and all that works fine. Is there a way i can change the first page to a simple on page web site to display the information he had up before?

Thank you.

I would set up an A record for something besides "www" and use that for RWW. Like " or "access". Then run the Connect to the Internet Wizard to set up your server's network again and specify that you want to use "access.mybrothersco.com" as the certificate name and the name that you want to use for RWW and OWA.

Now create a new Virtual Website called "publicweb", pointed at a directory with only a simple index.html page in it. Configure host headers (click Advanced on the Web Site tab) on this new site to only accept connections bound for " and don't allow SSL connections. Set the permissions on this virtual Web to allow anonymous access. When your brother builds a site, it can be built in that directory, if you wanted to host it locally. Personally, I'd host it somewhere else and reduce the local risk of hacking.

ShackDaddy, thanks for the reply. I will try what you have suggested but i think that it is going to work.

For some reason my brother was pretty set on hosting his site himself. I am taking all the necessary steps to help "prevent" and hack attempt but i know that if someone really wants to get in, they just might.

Thanks again.
