Hi,

Due to a printer problem we have been given a loan replacement but unfortunately it has an external network card which we are unfamiliar with. Could someone please help me to get this configured?

The print server is a netgear PS113 it has been given an IP address and hostname, the server name is 'valsallj51' and we have configured it to use a print queue 'P1'. The printer model is a laserjet 4000 and works OK on windows but struggling to get this working in UNIX, i think i need to use the lpadmin command but it has so many options?

Normally we use software from HP to configure the printers but this doesnt work with the external print server.

Many Thanks

We are using Solaris 8 and we have jetadmin already installed.

When we try to add the printer with jetadmin it is unable to find the printer because it is connected to an external print server. We have other HP printers that we have configured with jetadmin but these have internal network cards.

Thanks

Yeah the print server has been added to the hosts file and you can ping by hostname.

Somehow we need to add the printer specifying which print server to use and also which port to use on this server becuase it has 3 parallel ports P1 - P3 (queue names).

Thanks
