adding phone 2nd time

On a v3000 system I realized that I wanted a certain phone to have a different extension number. I deleted the phone but when I try to re-add it says the mac address is already in use. How do I deal with that?

When you look at the system, The extension is held in 2 different places. It is under user configuration and under telephone configuration. If you deleted the user, you will probably see the telephone listed as *** under telephones. Go to the telephones sections and remove the *** device that matches the mac address of the phone. The phone should rediscover then.
