adding or subtracting a date by months?

I am having an issue with subtracting months from today's date? It is causing all data to be filtered. How do I subtract months from today's date and get only 6 months ago. I know the problem is the year. How do I fix this?

Use the DateAdd Function
DateAdd("m", -6, Date())
Check out the help in access to see all the options for the first parameter.
