adding new records

I am trying to add new records to a database using the recordset however I keep getting an error saying that database is read only and that I cannot add any records to it. Does any one have any idea why this is so??? can any one show some code which will work for both opening the connection and the recordset that will allow new records to be added?

what kind of db is it? if it's access, you might need to check the permissions on your DB, to make sure that there is write access.

Also - make sure that you are using an updatable cursor since that might be another reason that you are getting the read only error.
