Hi All
We have added the above card to e450. The card is on another subnet and everything is A ..OK. But whwnwver we reboot the server it puts netmask from clas c to a class b again the same as the primary network card.
The server details are as follows:-
lo0: flags=1000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 8232 index 1
inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000
hme0: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 3
inet 10.128.2.20 netmask ffff0000 broadcast 10.128.255.255
ether 8:0:20:b1:40:32
lsi# uname -a
SunOS lsi 5.8 Generic_117350-02 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-4
HERES WHAT WE DID TO CONFIGURE THE CARD, which works untill we reboot the server... then we cant ping anything until we unplumb the new ce card:-
lsi# grep ce /etc/path_to_inst
"/pci@4,4000/pci@4/pci@0/network@0" 0 "ce"
"/pci@4,4000/pci@4/pci@0/network@1" 1 "ce"
"/pci@4,4000/pci@4/pci@4/network@2" 2 "ce"
"/pci@4,4000/pci@4/pci@4/network@3" 3 "ce"
# ifconfig ce0 plumb
# ifconfig ce0 10.128.9.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
# ifconfig ce0 inet 10.128.9.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 10.128.9.255
This works fine, we can see it is on its own subnet and assigned 255.255.255.0 mask. But when we re boot it displays message on terminal :- setting netmask for ce0 255.255.0.0. We aso cannot ping the primart network ip 10.128.2.20 untill we go the the terminal and unplumb ce0.
ANY IDEAS OR SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
