I want to add new items to our item master list. Is there a way I can copy an existing item as a new item and then edit the fields rather than enter everything again. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

Not that I've found....I'm sure somebody's written a 3rd party app that'll do that though. But....cost may not be worth it. Do you have a "Partner" (Great Plains re-seller) that you work with? They should know if such an add-on exists, or should research it for you at the least.

This does not completely solve your problem, but if you utilize the item class feature, you can fill in most of the product's information, save the item number and description, and the cost and sell price. I use it a lot and it saves me a ton of time.

RBlazei, Thank you very much for that, i will make use of that information.

Hi,

Another easy way is using integration manager. If you need help with this let me know.

triciata, please tell me how to use integration manager.

Hi,

If you have integration manager install on your workstation.
The easiest way to do this is using an existing sample file called Inventory Item for benchmark.
If you can't find that I can email you my file that I created.

Tricia

Tricia pls email me your file, would be really helpful, my email is hamzajosh hotmail.com

I am having a hard time emailing you the IM files. Do you have another email address?

If you're creating a few items like 5 then I suggest enter it manually then roll down the item class. If more than 20 then you can use the Table Import which is more user-friendly. Integration Manager can have a lot of issues especially if you're doing it the first time. You might even update existing items without knowing.
