Is adding more Digital Line Cards (and associated TNs) as simple as purchasing them (eBay), and sliding them into the chassis? I'm sure there is some programming involved, I'm hoping the experts here could provide some pointers. The chassis has plenty of open slots, and all 20 of the slots have already been terminated onto 50 blocks for cross-connect. Thanks all.

The cards and licenses is all you need. If you go into LD 22 and do an SLT it will show you how many digital/traditional telephone licenses you are licensed for

Installing the cards no problem and they will need programming when adding sets to them. But, you need to look at the licenses available. LD 11 for digital set, LD 10 for analog,ect..... Look for the USED,Available,Total line, that will give you an idea of what you can add. Adding licenses will depend on what SW level you are at for purchasing more.

If its not working, get a bigger hammer!

It looks like we have 5 available digital extensions. Which makes perfect sense, because we have 6 Digital LCs (96 phones), and we have 1 available TN for a digital phone.

So, if I add in a Digital LC, I'll get an additional 4 (on top of the 1 existing) digital phones? Anything above that, I would need additional licensing, even though we have over 2300 TNs available? What is involved with updating the licensing?

Depends on you RLS level. LD 22 and do a prt iss. To get more licences you will need to go through an Avaya Partner to upgrade (add) licences. Installing the key code is simple though. If you are not at a supported rls, it could get expensive if an upgrade is require. Sorry I don't know what rls level they have stopped supporting though.

If its not working, get a bigger hammer!

I have a feeling this isn't going to end well. I guess I'll get a hold of the company that installed it and see what they say. I am correct that I can add another DLC card and pickup 4 extensions though?

I've been going through it all. I might be able to convert some conference rooms to analog phones, put in a conference phone, and everyone thinks it's an upgrade. We have a building closure line I can convert to analog. I have some weird phones as well:

Code:
DN 6544
TYPE SL1
TN 011 0 00 10 KEY 01 MARP DES A10075 12 SEP 2007
     (3904)

DN 6798
TYPE SL1
TN 012 0 00 15 KEY 01 H MARP DES RONCO 3 DEC 2008
     (2008)

Neither of these ring anywhere, and have no VM box associated. I can probably dump them.

Run a TNB on those 2 phones because those 2 #'s are appearing on Key 1 and not Key 0

Good catch. The first one I think is a technical support line, I have to check the users phone.

The 6798 extension is just a 2nd number programmed onto a phone in the server room. That can go.

Removing 2nd dn's are not going to free DLC ports. Look for disabled sets, write them down, re-enable them, then do a ODU on the TN's. There may be a shorter way, but thats what I do.
LD 32
req odu (tn) examp - 11 0.

If there is a set on the port it will give you its type and serial number, ect.

I like this method to find/Inventory sets:

ld 117 inv to generate a list of sets built. then ld 117 inv prt sets that are active/inactive. It forces it to find missing phones that haven't been dabled too.

ex.

inv gen sets wait until completes. then inv prt sets.....

you can still add codes from an Avaya partner.
