I have a customer wanting to replace their dying Audix Voicemail system with a new Merlin Messaging VM Module, with licensing of 4 ports. Their existing phone system is a 2-cabinet Merlin Legend that was upgraded at some point to a CKE5 processor Magix 2.0

is merlin messaging compatible with this system ? will the VM module fit into the existing cabinet, or do we need a clamshell housing for it ?

thanks in advance !

You need a clam shell.

If there existing cabinets are Legend cabinets - then YES - you will need a clamshell for the Messaging module - as well as an available empty slot. You should also consider upgrading the Magix processor software to R4.0, V7.0 - to take advantage of all of the features of the new Magix Messaging R4 module.

thanks ! would the magix 2.0 to magix 4.0 upgrade be software only ? or a whole new processor ? customer is trying to go as cheap as possible of course

The processor upgrade is a software (firmware) upgrade that comes on a PCMCIA card - available from any Avaya dealer.

Ya - true - but I always get in "trouble" when I mention specifics.
