I am having a probelm getting a BES 24 port PoE switch to come online for some new IP 1140e sets. Any suggestions? the quick start guide is of little use. Thanks

looking through the threads I see that there might be an easy Task Based Guide but the links are old and out of date. I guess this was an easy step by step to hooking installing IP sets. This site is only using T7316e sets

Are you having trouble with the sets or with the data switch? If that BES is new, it should come up right away in store and forward mode because I don't think that one is a managed box. If you're not getiing power out of it or none of the LEDs come on, then the box is likely defective.

Oh I had a defective BES 50 as well, same symptoms. I had a power outage and when the unit came back on the LEDs all lit up from left to right and stayed illuminated and never turned off and although the phones stayed powered on I no longer had an Internet connection. Telco, does it sound like the unit is shot? I kept getting the cable unplugged message.

Well we are all in luck, you can find BES switches for $49 to $120 on eBay.

That would be my guess. Camden didn't say whether or not his is a 1010 or 1020. Both of those are managed versions and are the 1U rack mountable versions. I have a BES50 24T which is the one that's housed in the BCM50 case. It has an external power supply and this switch acts up once in a while too. I'm lucky that so far, all I've had to do is reboot it.
If Camden is talking about setting it up using a task based guide, it's likely the 1010 or 1020 which have internal power supplies and will be expensive to replace.

Hey Telco,

Mine is a BES50 24T. I've rebooted it and reset it but still no luck. Something must be defective in the Network connection. I am wondering if I should hang on to it or throw it in the junk pile.

I've luckily found some other ones for dirt cheap on ebay and have a few spares on hand.....Ocean Tech on ebay sometimes has the 24T new in the box for $49 on ebay, that's a ridiculously good price being in the original Nortel box, etc.

Yeah if his is the bigger one, it won't be easy to replace.....

I actually picked up 5 of them fo I actually picked up 5 of them for about 20 bucks a piece they are brand new. The problem is initially setting these on this system. I have never installed an IP set only the TV series. guid. The sets keep searching and rebooting over and over again saying they can't find the server.

Turned out to be the IP address was wrong. Changed that and it is just fine.
