When you are adding groups in AD, what does "Group Type" mean...the opions are "Security" and "Distribution"

Thanks

In general you will use Security. Distribution is for e-mail distribution lists... Joseph L. Poandl

If your company is in need of experts to examine technical problems/solutions, please check out

Security groups allow for grouping for purposes of securing rights or priviledges whereas distribution is for grouping on the basis of e-mail needs.

If you are using exchange server 2000, the distribution groups allow you to group like people so that you can send one message to the group and it is distributed to the whole group.
