Hey everyone,

I own a Nortel Meridian PBX Phone System. Verison 2111 Release 23 Issue 18+. I am not a beginner to the PBX phone system, but I defently do not know how to do this. I want to be able to setup intercomm pagging through the phones. So if someone from a 2616 phone hits w/e. It beeps on all the phones, and then you can talk. Plus I do not know where the 8th key on the M2616 phone is. If anything can you tell me how to set up the M2616 phone to work with the intercomm.

how many phones are you talking about intercomming? I don't know what w/e means. Do you want user A to press a key and ring all those other phones simultaneously and then talk through on the speaker? Key 8 is the bottom left key on an M2616. The first key, on the bottom right, is actually key 0. The top key on the right is key 7. The top left key (next to RLS key) is key 15. keys 0-15 gives you a total of 16 buttons.

key 7, eight from the bottom is a program key, used on a display set only, to use it on a non display add ndd and cdcd to the class of the set, then program it at will. an icm key is added in the same manner, the key will be a dig x y v.. x=icm number (you can have 99 icm groups) y= postion number.. 02 to 999, the persons icm number. i try to match icm to the last 2 digits of the ext. in load 20 prt dig enter enter.. you'll see a list of icm's, or none. pick a vacant number and make this change

..
now inc 101 is a voice icm and that set is icm number 101. if i go back to 20 and print icm 101, i will see one member, all members of a group are either voice or ring and the 1st station built decides the icm type

I currently have 75 users / phones. I would like to use all of them. But I would like it when you go into Bestbuy and the page across the intercom. I would like a user to hit a two digit or how ever long digit number and it goes across all the phones.

nope.. not going to happen on this system. sorry but that will require an external paging system with access fromthe switch

Okay then, how many phones can I go up to in this way I am talking about. I think I read somewhere you can go up to 20 phones in one group. So if I am person #1 I can intercomm/page 19 phones all at the same him. I am currently doing this for the programming part

So can I put more then one TN number in there so do I just keep repeating the steps in adding the people in the group. Just changed the number 10 to say number 11 and so one so forth?

Another question !

Can you add someone into a group if they are part of a ACL Line? I have a customer service dept that has the phone calls that come on spread out through the dept. And then they come in the morning they log in through their phone. So therefore they are part of an ACL Line. Can I still add them into a group and keeping them in the ACL Group?

if ALC means ACD (automatic call distribution) then, yes, you can put ACD sets in an intercom group with the other users. As far as programming your voice intercom, you can put 100 users in the same intercom group.

My apologizes I meant ACD (automatic call distribution) thank you for correcting me

looks like you've got it, and even an analog can have a dig number, we have separate icms for each dept. but depending on the number of phones one may be all you need

I hope I didn't come across as correcting you. I just wanted to make sure I was pointing you in the right direction. Please post back if you need further assistance.

I am currently trying this intercomm and it's not currently working ! I have talked to you about a aka "Global Page" with all the phones. I currently have some phone's set aside for this test. They are currently with this configuation:

Test Phone 1
>LD 20
REQ: CHG
TYPE: 2616
TN: 21 22
ECHG: YES
ITEM: KEY 8 DIG 1 2 R

Test Phone 2
>LD 20
REQ: CHG
TYPE: 2616
TN: 12 04
ECHG: YES
ITEM: KEY 8 DIG 1 3 R

Test Phone 3
>LD 20
REQ: CHG
TYPE 2616
TN: 13 04
ECHG: YES
ITEM: KEY 8 DIG 1 4 R

Test Phone 4
>LD 20
REQ: CHG
TYPE: 2616
TN: 13 01
ECHG: YES
ITEM: KEY 8 DIG 1 5 R

----------------------------------

Well I would like it to either delete it from that group or change it. And everytime I go to change it, it comes up with this error:

SCH0030 - Digit Input instead of alpha input is required
SCH0901 - SL-1 ring option conflicts with group option
SCH0906 - DIG member number conflicts with existing DIG member number.

So I need to know either how to delete it from the group, or I want to change it where it can be a "V" which is a one ring then the phone picks up automatically. So I guess it would be called a global page. Also can I assigned more then one TN number to the same member number? Like

>LD 20
REQ: CHG
TYPE 2616
TN: 21 12
ECHG: YES
ITEM: KEY 8 DIG 1 1 V

LD 20
REQ: CHG
TYPE: 2616
TN: 12 04
ECHG: YES
ITEM KEY 8 DIG 1 1 V

LD 20
REQ: CHG
TYPE: 2616
TN: 12 04
ECHG: YES
ITEM: KEY 8 DIG 1 1 V

....etc for all the phones? Or how would I come across in adding a global group? Or how can I just call the entire group?

Each phone needs a unique intercom number. You cannot assign the same intercom number to more than one phone. To change the group from R to V you need to first remove ALL the intercoms, then reassign them as V intercoms. Switch doesn't allow for some to be R and some to be V. I don't think intercom is the answer you want. The hotline feature allows you to press one key and it rings all the sets that have the hotline ext on them. But I don't think it will automatically come through the speaker. I will double-check and get back to you. I think you can have up to 30 appearances of the hotline DN but will double-check that as well.

Yes please check, at least your seeing what I am trying to do. I am trying to do a global page. And anything right now for that to work would be great ! Please let me know as soon as you can. I would appericate it sincerely

no it does not allow aaa (automatic answer) to a group to phones.. each phone must have a unique icm number, area page is a key system that will not work on most switches because of the power supply requirements. you can do that on a northstar key system

Well then can someone tell me how to take it out of the "R" option and put it into a "V" option. And/Or help me delete the TN number out of the group, or even delete the group period and start over from scratch?

Johnpoole beat me to it. Hotline is not going to give you what you want. I don't think intercom will either, but it may be your only choice. Bottom line is you cannot set up paging without having a separate paging system. I'll see if I can find something else for you.

Yes please, I am still in the process of offering this in front of the board. So the sooner the better. And I do appericate this sincerely.

I don't think there's a viable solution within the PBX that is going to allow you to simultaneously call 75 sets thru the speaker. I checked NTPs and nothing really even comes close. Sorry I don't have better news.

Okay, that's cool. How about just a low number of handsets. Just something that we can announce through the phones on the speakers. Plus also can u tell me how to take the TN's out of a group or how to delete the group out of the Phone System.
