Hello friends, May I ask your assistance on how can I programme a function key button of my NEC DT-400 24DE telephone, to answer a second call or another incoming call while I am engage to the first caller? Thank you in advance.

I am using PABX SV9100 with AA, it's just that when my live operator(information department) received a caller from the mother phone. And another caller, wishes to enter or dialled information department, it would only keep on ringing while busy communicating on first caller.(I do not want the second caller to wait for so long until the first one is clear) So I wish to add a function key to answer a second caller if possible.

You need to add either a trunk key or a CAP key. How are the buttons currently assigned?

Sir this is how my Function keys are programmed. I would like to use function keys No. 10 and 11. Which function do I need to add?

Hello my friend, I had only one mother phone, if I program number 11 as cap key and assigned 1 and so on would it help to answer a second caller? Thanks.

I cannot tell from your post if you are using trunk keys or CAP keys. I would need to see a working phone to determine how it is set up.
You can try CAP keys, but I do not know if you are using unique CAP keys or common CAP keys. The only way to determine that is to compare to several phones.

Presumptions are being made here, the call comes in via AA does that go to a department group, IRG or just an extension? If you answer the second caller you will need a trunk key in order to place that caller on hold as you will not be able to retrieve it (from memory I dont think it will allow you to hold with no line keys)

More information is necessary to figure it out. They could have pool + park keys, trunks keys or CAP keys. Just putting something on a button may conflict with other extensions.

Hello daddybadger, (all calls would go to extension numbers) all calls if I dial our five (5) trunklines the AA will provide the caller specific department Extension numbers, Example: AA voice - dial extension number/local number

301 - for art section
392 - for xray section
345 - for conference
342 - water section
357 - canteen

Or dial

0 - for information department

However when a second caller wish to call/dial 0 or information section (you could only hear it ringing until it becomes free), there's no more button key to hold incoming calls, so i've decided to program function key number 10 or 11 if possible. Could you please help me which one should i use, Trunk key or Cap key?

May I also clarify that local 0 or information department are most callers preferred for queries not only from the outside incoming calls(trunk lines) but also from local calls(inside the building). Thank you for your time.

Sir's will it conflict if I add additional function key as trunk key in my AA? Thank you.

Whats on keys 17 -24? Read the post. He's asking what you have programmed on keys (buttons) 17-24, MB 15-07, not MB 17.
You need to call in a trained, certified NEC tech.

Oh my, it's a mistake.

Here is my function keys from 17 to 24 fo your information. Thank you very much guys.

Holy cow...why are the trunks so out of order? I assume you are using analog trunks then? What is with that numbering plan?

I hope I am getting right, based on all the info you provided, a SIE key *03 XXXX with a couple unique cap keys *08 or additional ICM keys *00 would be best out of your AA for dial 0 where you can put them on hold to get to the second caller. The external calls would use the CAPS, the internal would use ICM keys. You may have to free up some buttons or even upgrade the phone to a 32 button to allow the 8 extra line keys.

Hope this helps

Hi there CoralTech, actually I am using a wifi router using a SIM card as trunk. The numbering plan - sorry to say but this is the way the contractors programmed the numbering plan. Thank you all for your kind replies.

For mitchell70, if i would try to release 8 DSS/one touch key or free 8 buttons, what will be my program setup if i have a CAP keys(external) and ICM keys(internal)? Will it be like this image below? Example: key 25-28 additional setup. Please correct me.
