I want to add a number of new fields to an access table using code. I have followed the example in "Access 2000 Development Unleashed" (Stephen Forte, Hoew & Ralston) but it does not seem to work using ADO and gives me an error message "Method or data member not found"

If I change the word rst.Column.append etc to rst.fields.append etc I get the message "Operation is not allowed in this context"

This application interfaces to an Oracle database.

Many thinks in anticipation of a simple solution

If you are trying to add to the Oracle tables, that is why you're getting the error. I don't believe you can modify ODBC linked tables. Try doing your routines on a native Access table to verify, if your code works on the Access than that's your problem.
